AFTERLIGHT

2023 – ongoing

Since childhood, I have lived between moments of clarity and opacity. Keratoconus, a condition that alters the shape of the cornea and changes the path of light, revealed something fundamental to me: the silent work of the body in shaping what becomes visible.

Faced with uncertainty, we fill in what the eye cannot fully grasp in order to make sense of what we see.

Afterlight emerges from this process, from the interval between seeing and recognising. Through photography, I explore how perception is constructed, and how light, the body and experience shape what we understand as visible.

When visual stability can no longer be taken for granted, how do we continue to trust what we see?

In this space, the image does not impose itself: it is negotiated.
